Fold3 Tracking Order Status

I used Fold3 free last year on Memorial Day. I found several documents for Confederates which I had not really researched before. When Ancestry offered a special for 6 months of Ancestry, Fold3, and Newspapers, I took it. I have found 1 item each for the Union soldiers I was researching, and those I already had, thanks to Illinois Archives which is free. I agree that more information is available elsewhere if you want to do searches. It seems that F3 takes information, pictures, stories, etc. that others post and add those to their site rather than actually doing new digitizing and downloading of their own. Get out of the office, go to Archives, and get us stuff that hasn't been digitized yet. Then you will be worth the money.

I can see many giving low rating for this site. I think the site itself is great with good quality material, but the search facility is not one of the best. Needs a bit of a revamp

I can only echo the warning of so many others here, these dreadful scammers completely ignore your account setting NOT to auto renew and roll your free trial over into a fully charged membership. I am now fighting to get a refund, but there is no online cancelation option and no UK phone number, so contacting these fraudsters and getting your money back is made as difficult as possible. Ancestry should be truly ashamed of themselves for their part in this rip-off. Update: eventually got a refund after 10 days, but the fact remains that they urgently need to change their 'faulty' system that switches auto renew back on after you've clearly turned it off. The content, meanwhile, is OK, but there's not much UK stuff there that isn't already available on Ancestry.

This site has lots of interesting stuff but i suppose it depends on what your looking for, as others have said my free trial surprised me by taking money when i was sure i had cancelled membership the night i got it, payment was taken a week later. I can't fault the company on dealing with matter, it was sorted within a few days, no issue returning money to my account at all, i just sent my email associated with the account and it was sorted.

I took a week's free trial. The first thing I did was go into my account and turn off the auto-renewal. I double-checked that the expiry date was correct. Mysteriously, the auto-renewal has turned itself back on and I've had an email telling me I've been charged for another year's membership. I've contacted them, but am not holding out much hope of getting my money back. Edited to add: They did refund the payment without quibbling, so they get kudos for that, but the internet is littered with reviews saying the same thing. They need to get their account pages sorted so that this doesn't happen.
